Background
As an entrepreneur in the Hague region, Schoenaker has been involved in projects such as the Museum Quarter parking garage, Legoland Scheveningen, WTC The Hague, and PostNL’s headquarters in the HS Quarter. For more than 30 years, the Den Haag Nieuw Centrum Foundation has represented the interests of developers, builders, investors, users and housing associations in the CID area, in close cooperation with the Municipality of The Hague. The foundation focuses on connecting stakeholders to help realise shared ambitions for the area and to attract both national and international investors. In his role as chairman, Schoenaker participates in both the Hague Housing Table and the Office Table of the Municipality of The Hague.
Focus within EBTH
Within the board, Schoenaker aims to support a strong and future-proof economy for the Hague region. His focus will be on delivering the major inner-city development challenge facing The Hague in the coming years, including the construction of thousands of new homes, offices, amenities, high-quality public space, and improved public transport accessibility. According to Schoenaker, this complex task of creating a “city within a city” can only be successfully achieved through close cooperation between market parties, the municipality, politics and the national government (as a prominent user of the city).
